<p>New polysulphides are derived from >=2 olefins and have an S content of 22-45%, a Cl content of nO and a refractive index (nD20) of 1.515-1.580. They are prepd. by reacting one of the olefins (e.g. isobutylene) with S2Cl, adding the required amt. of the other olefin (e.g. disobutylene) reacting with more S2Cl2, and reacting the product with Na2S. The polysulphides are useful as EP additives for lubricants and as additives for industrial oils. The polysulphides are stable and non-corrosive. Their S content can be vaired at will by varying the proportions of the different olefins used to prepare them.</p> |
