PURPOSE:To prevent a lowering in activity of a denitration catalyst due to poisonous substances in a flue gas by forming a catalyst, wherein a catalytically active component is supported on a carrier composed of crystalline titanium phosphate which has pores of a specified diameter and a specified volume ratio. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous titanium phosphate is obtained by drying a precipitat ed titanium phosphate which is formed by adding phosphoric acid to titanic acid. A catalyst for removing nitrogen oxide is produced by having a catalytical ly active component supported on crystalline titanium phosphate, which is formed by maturing that amorphous titanium phosphate after adding phosphoric acid to it, and by maturing afterward. As for the obtained catalyst carrier, its pores are not larger than 20Angstrom in diameter and its cumulative volume of pores of 5-10Angstrom in diameter is not less than 50% of its total pore volume. On the other hand, at least one species of metal from among groups Va, VIa and VII of the periodical table is preferable for the catalytically active compo nent. |
