Quinazolinone oxides of formula where X:Cl, Br, NO2, CF3, Y:H, Br, Cl, F process for their preparation and their use as intermediates in the preparation of 3-fluorobenzodiazepines which are useful as tranquilizers, muscle relaxants and sedatives.
