<p>A ski (1) has a multi-layer length of material (3) attached to its underneath surface (2) giving a longer lasting running surface without requiring waxing. The front end can incorporate a pocket (11) so that this can be fitted onto the ski tip and the material stretches onto the ski. The material can have a base layer (4) of a textile having natural or synthetic fibres or it can be made of strip plastics material. This is covered each side by a fibre reinforced paper layer (7) with a waterproof coating. On the underneath is a wax layer (5), and on the top is an adhesive layer (6). The material can be wound onto a reel, and can have a protective paper or plastics layer (8).</p> |
