<p>1467996 Projection printing RANK XEROX Ltd 16 May 1974 [18 May 1973] 21807/74 Heading G2A Variable information in the form of a set of plates 11 together with standard information on a sheet 15 is photo-copied at the horizontal copying window 16 of a projection printer with the aid of an attachment comprising an upper horizontal groove 32 along which plates are fed in succession from a plate-supply magazine 12 to an exposure aperture 39, a lower horizontal groove 33 along which plates are fed in succession from aperture 39 to a receiving magazine 14, each plate dropping in turn into the copying position as the previously copied plate is removed, and a reciprocatory transport device which is spring-biased to the advance position, shown, and is retracted by means of a solenoid and which comprises an upper plateadvancing member 34 and a lower plate-retracting member 35 having a resilient claw 36. The supply and receiving magazines are identical and interchangeable and each has a supply/receiving gap 24 between ledges 23 at the top and bottom and a side wall 22, the opposite side being open. Receiving magazine 14 has a concertina spring to allow orderly filling. Each plate 11 has a bevelled trailing edge to allow claw 36 to ride over the plate at the copying position during the advance stroke. Window 16 may be flat or curved, the plates being similarly shaped. A cover (not shown) is placed over window 16 and the portion of the attachment thereabove.</p> |
