1379173 Endless conveyers MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 16 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 12435/72 Heading B8A Apparatus for raising or lowering loads such as freight comprises two platforms 200 each connected by two pairs of ball joints 17, 18 to endless chains 1, 2 : 3, 4. The platforms are formed of slats 21<SP>1</SP> which, when a load 36 is to be supported and transferred between two levels, are maintained as a rigid horizontal platform but when the platforms are unloaded are able to follow convex or concave paths. The extent to which loads may be raised or lowered is adjustable by an upper framework B telescoping within a base frame work A, a chain take-up device 300 being actuated by a motor 33. The means for maintaining the platform rigid when moving in a direction E from the lower to the upper position comprises keep members 44 which are caused to engage in chain link plates 43 by fixed guides 35. As the platform begins to engage guide rollers 22 at the end of its upper horizontal run, the keep members 44 are disengaged from the plates 43 by springs (51), Fig. 4c (not shown), and the slats 21<SP>1</SP> of the platforms are able to follow a curved path on their return to a load-carrying position. When the platforms are moved in the direction opposite to E, guides 34 at the upper level of the apparatus cause the actuation of the members 44 and the platforms are maintained rigid. The apparatus is fed and discharged by conveyers 37, 38. |
