Machines for the reduction in thickness of sheet metal strip, profiles, rods and wires by plastic deformation between two forming tools comprises one tool with a support plane for the material against the other rotating tool with its working surface on the circumference. In the preferred version the first tool is stationary and the second consists of a roll. - Large reductions in area can be effected with this process which is both cheap and simple.
