PURPOSE:To obtain the subject foam, composed of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, having homogeneous fine cells, excellent in impact resilience, good in spring properties and useful as shock absorbers, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective foam, obtained by kneading (A) 30-70 pts.wt. thermoplastic elastomer containing recurring units derived from ethylene, recurring units derived from propylene and recurring units derived from a diene and (B) 70-30 pts.wt. ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing >=10wt.% recurring units of vinyl acetate together with a foaming agent and a crosslinking agent at <=150 deg.C, crosslinking the resultant kneaded mixture at a high temperature under a high pressure in a high-pressure hermetically sealed vessel, releasing the crosslinked mixture from the aforementioned vessel and expanding the mixture to 5-20 times expansion ratio and usable as sole materials of sports shoes, etc., in combination with silicone gels, etc. |
