MANUFACTURE OF LEAD-ACID BATTERY ELECTRODE PLATE GROUP AND CATHODE PLATE FOR LEAD-ACID BATTERY TO BE USED FOR ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To securely integrate lugs cathode plates and straps so as to restrain corrosion at the boundaries when the lugs of the plates are soaked into a lead molten metal, thus forming the straps. CONSTITUTION:Five cathode plates and six anode plates are laminated via partition plates. Lugs of the plates are soaked in a lead molten metal by a cast-on system, thus forming straps in the lugs. A thin portion 1' is provided at the tip of the lug 1 of the cathode plate. The lug 1 is soaked in the lead molten metal in such a manner that part of the thin portion 1' is exposed above the lead molten metal. A fillet 4 is formed on the lug 1 of the cathode plate in the same manner as in the case of the lug 2 of the anode plate, thus preventing air sump. A difference (a-b) between thicknesses (a), (b) is set to 0.2mm to 0.4mm.
