PURPOSE:To quantitatively determine an antigen in a short time and with high accuracy by forming a thin film, which consists of a gelled, high molecular compound on which a biological catalyser is immobilized, on a surface of an electrode, so that the substance (antigen) is quickly introduced into the gelled high molecular compound. CONSTITUTION:A sensor part is constituted of optical fibers 2, a transparent electrode coated on the end surface of the optical fibers 2, and a thin film 22, which is a gelled support applied on the electrode 21. The thin film 22 is formed out of a polyacrylamide incorporating an anti-insulin antibody. An electrolyte 4 containing insulin to be tested and another electrolyte 4 containing a compound consisting of insulin, whose concentration is known, and fluoresceline isothiocyanate(FITC), a fluorescent material, are mixed in a prescribed mixing ratio and poured into an electrolyte tank 1. The electrode 21 is soaked in this electoryte 4 and impressed with plus voltage, while an electrode 3 is impressed with minus voltage. Then, an electric potential difference is generated the tank 1. As a result, the insulin or the like, which is charged with plus voltage, is moved in the thin film 22 through electrophoresis. Accordingly, the quantity of the insulin can be determined in a short time and with high accuracy. |
