INORGANIC FINE POWDER AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain inorganic fine powder having excellent adsorptivity and ink fixing property, a recording material containing the inorganic fine powder in an ink reception layer and a printing paper (wood-free paper or synthetic paper) free from color sink defect. SOLUTION: This inorganic fine powder contains a core consisting of a porous silica particle and a shell of an aluminum compound selected from aluminum oxide and aluminum hydroxide and covering the surface of the core. The adsorption surface area of the inorganic fine powder is larger than that of the porous silica particle to be used as the core. This recording material is produced by applying a resin coating layer containing 40-92wt.% of the above fine inorganic powder and 60-8wt.% of a resin binder to the surface of a substrate. This synthetic paper is produced by orienting a resin film containing 8-65wt.% of the inorganic fine powder and 92-35wt.% of a thermoplastic resin at a temperature lower than the melting point of the thermoplastic resin.
