PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold monitoring system which internally processes timely monitoring by the mold monitoring system and automates the setting of such appropriate time for monitoring the mold. SOLUTION: The system for monitoring the mold comprises a camera 9 which is positioned and fixed at a specified spot, an image analyzing means 32 which analyzes a photographic image photographed by the camera 9 and decides in which way a mold is transferred, in a mold opening direction or a mold clamping direction, based on a change in the photographic image, storage means 33 and 34 which store an inspection spot set in a transfer path of the mold in a clamped state and the photographic image at the inspection spot, and a comparison and decision means 36 which compares the photographic image at the inspection spot with a photographic image of a neighborhood of the same spot as shot previously and stored by the storage means 33 and 34 and decides to stop the mold when the comparison results show a non- coincidence between the photographic images.
