The present invention relates to a system and method for providing an alarm function and a shortest public transportation route notification service, and a mobile communication terminal and a server for the same. According to the present invention, when a mobile communication terminal′s user uses the alarm function, the user inputs a destination and a destination arrival time. After the alarm function is performed, a GPS is operated to detect the current location of the user and the shortest public transportation route to the destination, thus providing a notification to the user such that the user does not be late for the destination. The system includes an alarming unit comparing an arrival time at a bus stop or a station to the arrival time of public transportation that arrives at the bus stop or the station, notifying a user of the comparison result, comparing the predicted arrival time at the destination to a time when the user needs to arrive at the destination, and notifying the user of the comparison result.
