<p>The present invention relates to a by hand tearable composite material, in particular for use as a substrate for an adhesive tape such as, for example, a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. According to one main embodiment, the composite material comprises a reinforcement layer in the form of a weft inserted knitted fabric, and at least one extruded layer of thermoplastic material on one surface of the reinforcement layer. According to another main embodiment, the composite material comprises a reinforcement layer in the form of a laid fabric consisting of a warp and a weft, and at least one extruded layer of thermoplastic material on one surface of the reinforcement layer. Production costs are thus significantly lowered without sacrificing other properties of the composite material.</p> |
