PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nickel complex compound exhibiting new characteristics. SOLUTION: The Ni(II)-semiquinone complex is represented by formula 1 (wherein, n is 1 or 2; Ph is a phenyl group which may have a substituent; tBu is a tert-butyl group; A is a counter anion; a ring having N as a ring member is an atomic group forming a 5- or 6-membered ring which may have one N besides the N).
