This monitoring system 1 is provided with: a radio wave detection unit 21 that emits and receives microwaves to detect biological information of a subject; an optical detection unit 34 capable of imaging an area downstream in a microwave emission direction; a direction changing mechanism 22 capable of changing the microwave emission direction; a direction detection unit 28 capable of detecting the microwave emission direction; and a direction map 8 in which pixel positions within an image area 5a imaged by the optical detection unit 34 and microwave emission directions are associated. The monitoring system 1 converts the pixel position corresponding to an indicated position within the image area 5a into the microwave emission direction on the basis of the direction map 8, and changes the prior microwave emission direction detected by the direction detection unit 28 to the microwave emission direction corresponding to the indicated position through the direction changing mechanism 22. |
