PURPOSE:To provide a reinforced gel sheet that has a smooth beautiful surface, and is free from bubbles in the gel, by placing approximately horizontally a bottom body for a casting cell, putting thereon a gel support the circumference of which is sandwiched between a pair of gaskets thereby forming a casting cell whose upper part is open, and injecting a polymerizable monomer composition followed by polymerization. CONSTITUTION:A bottom body for a casting cell is placed horizontally, a gel support whose circumference is sandwiched between a pair of gaskets is placed thereon to constitute a casting cell whose upper part is open, and a polymerizable monomer composition is injected thereinto followed by polymerization. For example, a film of a polyester is spread on a glass sheet, and a polyester mesh that is sandwiched between a pair of packings of silicone rubber is placed thereon and is secured by clamping to form a casting cell measuring 70X310 whose upper part is open. Then a monomer composition prepared by dissolving triethylene glycol bismethacrylate, and a photopolymerization initiator in acrylic acid is poured, followed by photopolymerization to give a sheet of a gel. |
