The invention relates to a generator system (1) for rail vehicles, comprising a generator (2) with a rotor (15) and a stator (16), and a wheel set bearing unit (3). Said wheel set bearing unit (3) comprises a bearing (4) for mounting a wheel set shaft (5), and a bearing housing (12), an end cap (13) being arranged on the front face of the wheel set shaft (5). Said end cap (13) is coupled to the rotor (15), and the stator (16) is connected to the bearing housing (12).
