The fishing-rod reel has a spool coupled to a spindle via a pin at right angles to the latter. The pin (3) works with a toothed ring (6') on the spool, and in which there are a number of diametrally opposite pairs of radial slots, open towards the end face, and of different deptsh, to accommodate the pin. The ring can be formed directly on the spool, or on a ratchet wheel (6) fitting on the spindle adjacent to it.
