PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly reduce defects in formation of print images.SOLUTION: The present invention comprises: an intermediate transfer belt that conveys, while carrying, a developer image in a conveyance direction; a secondary transfer part that secondarily transfers the developer image from the intermediate transfer belt to a medium; a detection part that is arranged on the downstream side of the secondary transfer part in the conveyance direction and detects a developer on the intermediate transfer belt; and a control part that controls a secondary transfer voltage to be applied to the secondary transfer part. During a first mode of detecting a transfer residual developer on the intermediate transfer belt after secondary transfer, when the detection part detects a transfer residual developer as a developer on the intermediate transfer belt, the control part controls the secondary transfer voltage to be applied to the secondary transfer part on the basis of a result of the detection, and thereby reducing the transfer residual developer after the secondary transfer of the developer from the intermediate transfer belt to the medium to significantly reduce defects in formation of print images, irrespective of the electric resistance values of media to be used for the formation of print images.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
