Ionisation probe for flame monitoring on oil or gas burners, consisting of an ionisation core 21''' which is fastened in a support 22''' of electrically insulating material. In order to largely exclude thermal deformations of the probe, the ionisation core is of tubular construction, so that it also acts as a cooling air tube. The support is formed with a wider internal diameter at the end 31' projecting into the combustion chamber, so that a gap 34', which the combustion gas cannot enter, remains between the ionisation core and the support. This stops a deposit 30 from the combustion gases from forming on the probe 20''' and, thereby from causing a short circuit preventing the probe from functioning, because the deposit is unable to bridge the gap. <IMAGE>
