The present invention concerns a lock and key device, preferably for vehicles equipped with computer-controlled operating circuits. The lock 11 is equipped not only with mechanical locking members 13, 14, but also with a transformer 15 arranged next to the key path 12. The key is equipped with a magnet 4 which, upon insertion of the key, is intended to pass the transformer in order to create an induced voltage. The key is further provided with a coil 8 connected to a chip circuit 9. The windings 21, 22 of the transformer are in communication with a circuit (Figure 4) which, when a voltage is generated in the transformer windings, initiates an oscillator 28 which supplies the transformer with oscillations which, when the key is introduced into position, transmit energy to the coil 8 in the key for activating the chip circuit 9 which then emits a coded signal, which is transferred to the vehicle's electronics system in order to be compared there to an existing program in the vehicle and in order to trigger the necessary operating functions. <IMAGE> |
