PURPOSE: A color filter substrate for a liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to form a black matrix with a thickness equal to an interval between the color filter substrate and an array substrate for serving as spacers further, and locate the black matrix on pixel boundary portions on the alignment film for preventing light leakage. CONSTITUTION: A method for fabricating a color filter substrate for a liquid crystal display device includes the steps of preparing an insulating substrate, forming red, green and blue color filters(121-123) on the insulating substrate, forming common electrodes(130) on the color filters, forming an alignment film(140) on the common electrodes, and forming black matrix(150) having opening parts(151) on the alignment film corresponding to the color filters with a thickness equal to an interval between an array substrate and the color filter substrate.
