The line speed detection method for high speed searching in a compact disk player comprises the steps of: searching the starting point of a program region; starting the tracking with the constant angular velocity (CAV); reading the sub Q code; setting the play time to detect the error of the line speed; and detecting the line speed by comparing the time of the reference line speed with the time of the moved position. A system comprises a system controller (10), a pick- up section (20), a decoder (30), a CAV servo section (40), a PLL servo section (50), and a multiplexer (60).
