PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device and a catheter unit, which can prevent the occurrence of trouble such as wire breakage.SOLUTION: This catheter unit 100 includes: a catheter assembly 1 including a catheter 2, and a drive shaft 3 having an ultrasonic transducer 52; and an external unit 6 connected with the catheter assembly 1, moving the drive shaft 3 in the axial direction while rotating the drive shaft 3 around the axis, and taking in an image inside a lumen of the living body by the ultrasonic transducer 52. The external unit 6 includes: a scanner device 61; an axial direction movement device 62; a sensor detecting a load received from the drive shaft 3 when moving the drive shaft 3 to the axial direction tip side; a safety device performing safety processing; and a control part 63 controlling the operation of the safety device. The control part 63 operates the safety device according to the detection result of the sensor when moving the drive shaft 3 to the axial direction tip side. |
