摘要 The present invention provides an inter-vehicle distance control system using vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communications and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the inter-vehicle distance control system using V2V communications comprises: a relative distance/velocity input part, a communications part, a constant change part, a target inter-vehicle distance calculation part and a target acceleration calculation part. The relative distance/velocity input part receives an input of the relative distance between a recognized preceding vehicle and a user vehicle and the relative velocity. The communications part receives road surface information from the recognized preceding vehicle. The constant changing part compares the received road surface information with road surface information received in a previous time and changes the inter-vehicle distance constant when the road surface information is changed as a result of the comparison. The target inter-vehicle distance calculation part calculates the target inter-vehicle distance between the recognized preceding vehicle and the user vehicle based on the changed inter-vehicle distance constant. The target acceleration calculation part calculates target acceleration of the user vehicle using the received road surface information. According to the present invention, a safe following distance depending on the road surface can be secured.
