PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing device for providing information used when a vehicle stops or passes through an intersection, and to provide an information providing method. SOLUTION: The information providing device 10 acquires the information on vehicles 20 detected by a vehicle detector 30 and determines a vehicle group composed of the plurality of vehicles 20 based on the acquired information on the vehicles 20. When there is a vehicle group, the information providing device 10 computes an extended time or a shortened time of a green light so that the vehicle group avoids a dangerous running state (dangerous travel region) and transmits the information of the computed extended time or shortened time (variables of green light time) to each vehicle 20 in the vehicle group.
