Estimating the airflow through a PAP device from a motor's speed and adjusting the motor's control current accordingly

A method for determining airflow through a Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) device by a processor-controlled PAP device. This is done by measuring the actual speed of a blower motor (16), determining a desired motor current required to maintain a desired motor speed and using both the actual motor speed and desired motor current in a polynomial flow-estimation algorithm to determine flow through the PAP device (12). An apparatus for performing this is also disclosed.
