Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for setting transmission power of a downlink channel of a communication system. A method for setting downlink transmission power by a wireless terminal in an OFDM system comprises the following steps of: obtaining a signaling parameter from a base station; and determining a ratio between a first ratio of traffic data to pilot (T2P) with respect to first OFDM symbols and a second ratio of traffic data to pilot (T2P) with respect to second OFDM symbols based on the number of the signaling parameters and cell specific antenna ports in the base station. The first ratio and the second ratio are respectively determined to be 1, 4/5, 3/5, and 2/5 if the signaling parameter is 0, 1, 2, and 3 with respect to one cell specific antenna port, and respectively determined to be 5/6, 1, 3/4, and 1/2 if the signaling parameter is 0, 1, 2, and 3 with respect to two or four cell specific antenna ports. |
