<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition control method for an internal combustion engine, utilizing an electric field for facilitating combustion without reducing durability of the internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: The spark ignition type internal combustion engine includes an ignition plug, and generates plasmas by reacting products produced during spark discharge generated by high voltage applied via an ignition coil connected to the ignition plug with an electric field generated in a combustion chamber via the ignition plug by an electric field generating means to ignite a mixture. The spark ignition control method for the spark ignition type internal combustion engine includes: detecting an ion current to be generated during combustion, determining a combustion condition based on the detected ion current, and generating an electric field when the combustion condition is determined to be normal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
