PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnetic alloy excellent in weather resistance and capable of suppressing the reduction of coercive force under a humidity environment, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnetic alloy contains a rare earth element (one or more kinds of lanthanoid elements including Y) of 14-26 mass%, nitrogen of 2.0 mass% or more and the remainder consisting of iron. The alloy having a ThZntype crystal structure includes Ca of 0.001-0.1 mass% and Cu of 0.01-1 mass%. The method for manufacturing the rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnetic alloy comprises: mixing a rare earth oxide powder, an iron powder, a copper powder and metal calcium or calcium hydride used as a reducer of the rare earth oxide; heating and sintering the mixture under a non-oxidative atmosphere by a reduction diffusion method to obtain a reduction diffusion reaction product including a rare earth-iron master alloy; and nitriding the obtained rare earth-iron master alloy. A reduction temperature for obtaining the reduction diffusion product is 1050-1150°C, and a holding time is 8-10 hours. |
