The present invention relates to an application activating system using ultrasonic waves which, if ultrasonic waves are received from the outside, activates an application and thus enables a user to check the application, even when a terminal is in a sleep mode. The main features of the present invention comprise: a terminal (200) for matching information about installed applications to ultrasonic waves, and, when ultrasonic waves generated by an ultrasonic wave generating device (100) are received, activating an application corresponding to the received ultrasonic waves and displaying the application on a screen, wherein the ultrasonic wave generating device (100) comprises: an ultrasonic wave information management unit (110) for storing and managing information about ultrasonic waves which are generated so as to be transmitted to the outside; and an ultrasonic wave generating unit (120) for generating the ultrasonic waves stored by the ultrasonic wave information management unit (110) and transmitting the ultrasonic waves to the outside, and wherein the terminal (200) comprises: an ultrasonic wave channel-application setting unit (210) for matching applications installed in the terminal (200) to specific ultrasonic wave channels and storing the matching information in an ultrasonic wave channel-application DB (161); an ultrasonic wave receiving unit (220) for receiving the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the outside; an ultrasonic wave channel identifying unit (230) for comparing the ultrasonic waves received by the ultrasonic wave receiving unit (220) with the ultrasonic waves classified into the ultrasonic wave channels which are stored in the ultrasonic wave channel-application DB (161), and identifying an ultrasonic wave channel classified as having matching ultrasonic waves; and an application activating unit (240) for executing, if a matching registered ultrasonic wave channel is identified by the ultrasonic wave channel identifying unit (230), an application registered in the ultrasonic wave channel.
