PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time until an image of a subject is displayed on a display device in a plenoptic imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: a lens array in which a plurality of lenses are arranged; imaging elements arranged in a manner such that light transmitted through each lens of the lens array is incident in a plurality of pixels; a display part for displaying image data read from the imaging elements; a recording part for recording the image data read from the imaging elements; a read control part having a first read mode for reading image data of pixels in a first region where relative places coincide with those of lenses of the lens array and a second read mode for reading image data of pixels in a second region from the imaging elements; and a control part for performing control so that image data is read from the imaging element in the second read mode after image data is read from the imaging element in the first read mode, the image data read in the first read mode is displayed on the display part, and the image date read in the second read mode is recorded in the recording part.
