发明名称 Improvements in automatic firearms
摘要 579,278. Automatic firearms. PATCHETT, G. W., and STERLING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. April 1, 1943, No. 5246. [Class 119] An automatic firearm having a breech-block A which moves rearward by gas pressure of the explosive charge and returns under the pressure of a recoil spring, is provided with a frictional brake to arrest excessive movement and to provide initial retardation on forward movement of the block in order to compensate for variation in recoil resulting from the use of different kinds of ammunition. The firearm has a known selective device whereby the weapon may operate automatically or non- automatically according to the control of a sear E engageable by a bent F on the face of. the block. The block A has an internal sleeve 3 which has an extension 3b and a flange 6, a spring 7 being located between the flange and the striker-body 2. The recoil spring C acts on a flange 9 on the striker-body and at a point in the rearward movement of the block corresponding approximately to the cocking position thereof, the sleeve 3b engages frictional spring tongues 14 located around a ring 13, whereby the excess energy of recoil is absorbed. The spring tongues are of tapered section longitudinally, and are flared outwardly at their outer ends 16. Interengaging pin and inclined slot connections between the sleeve and the casing cause the sleeve to be partially rotated during reciprocation so as to prevent binding between the spring tongues and the sleeve as a result of grit &c. According to a modification, the sleeve 3, 3b may be omitted, the rear end of the block being formed with an integral sleeve to engage the spring tongues 14.
