摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology enabling detection of failure in a differential pressure sensor that detects a differential pressure between front and back pressures of a particulate filter disposed in an exhaust channel of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: Detection of failure is carried out in the following steps. In a period after temperature elevation control on a filter is stopped in a filter regeneration process and oxidation of PM (particulate matter) continues, a deposition amount of PM on the filter is estimated (S105) on the basis of a temperature difference between the front and the back of the filter, and the deposition amount of PM is also estimated (S106) on the basis of a detected value of the differential pressure sensor.
