848,996. Non-metallic springs; hydraulic dampers. MOULTON DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. March 3, 1959 [Sept. 16, 1958], No. 31282/58. Divided out of 848,995. Class 108(3). In a combined spring and hydraulic damper unit, the space between a cylinder formed by a pressing 5, and a piston 8, is bridged by a rubber diaphragm 6. A chamber 41 has a valve 46 through which operating fluid may be replenished. The chamber 41 may be connected to the corresponding chamber of a similar device located at another wheel of the vehicle on the same side as described in Specification 813,259. The interconnecting means may be either a rigid pipe or a resilient pipe, this pipe will be connected by an outlet 12 to the interior of chamber 41. A valve 10, of the kind described in Specification 824,371, controls the flow of operating fluid to and from the chamber 41. Bleed orifices 60 are provided. A rubber body 42, bonded to a pressing 4, provides the springing means. Fluid forced into the chamber 41 deforms the rubber body 42. The body 42 has flaps 44 which are trapped between pressings 4 and 5.
|
