PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system and an image forming apparatus capable of achieving further reduction of power consumption.SOLUTION: A first image forming apparatus includes: a first communication unit that communicates with a second image forming apparatus without using a network and in a communication method with less power consumption than a communication method using a network; a second communication unit; a printing unit; a monitoring unit that monitors the amount of a print job; a first control unit that performs, when the amount of a print job monitored by the monitoring unit is equal to or less than a first threshold, control to transmit a first control signal instructing shift to a first mode to the second image forming apparatus; and a second control unit that performs, when the second image forming apparatus is in the first mode and the amount of a print job of the first image forming apparatus exceeds a second threshold, control to transmit a second control signal instructing shift to a second mode to the second image forming apparatus via the first communication unit. |
