PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition for suppressing production of brain fractalkine (CX3CL1).SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition is based on the discovery that production of brain fractalkine (CX3CL1) can be suppressed by administration of retinoid from the periphery. The pharmaceutical composition comprises retinoid or its salt acceptable as a medicine, as an active ingredient. The pharmaceutical composition is useful as a prophylactic or a therapeutic agent for schizophrenia or neurodegenerative disease caused by brain fractalkine receptor (CX3CR1) activation.
