An automatic washing machine comprises a first on-off switch 6 in the electric heating circuit, controlled by temperative sensitive control means 2, a second on-off switch 8 in a shunt of switch 6 and means for periodically opening and closing switch 8 between the time when switch 6 is opened by means 2, the washing liquor having reached a pre-determined temperature, and the end of the washing operation to maintain the temperature of the washing liquor. The temperature sensitive element 2 is mounted in the container 1 of the washing machine and is connected by a capillary 3 to an expansion vessel 4 connected by a rod 5 to the switch 6. Switch 8 is operated by a rod 8<SP>1</SP> engaging a cam disc 9 carried on a shaft 10 which starts to rotate when switch 6 is opened. |
