The invention relates to medical equipment, in particular to devices for inactivation of microorganisms in air, and can be used for disinfection of air, as well as for increase of the level of negative air ions in medical, pharmaceutical, food and agricultural industries, as well as in everyday life. An electric air sterilizer comprises a housing, inside which there are located an ionization chamber made of material of high electrical strength, external electrodes - ionizers, power sources, and a turbine for blowing air through the ionization chamber. In the ionization chamber at a certain distance from each other positive and negative discharge electrodes are located. The positive discharge electrodes are connected to voltage of 20 kV, negative electrodes - 6-30 kV. In the electrode gap a bipolar corona discharge occurs. The discharge current makes 40-60 mA depending on the air condition. These current values are achieved by maintaining the value of electric field strength in the discharge gap at 1·10-3·10V/m. The external electrodes - ionizers are located on the front panel of sterilizer, powered by a pulsed source and designed for ionization of atoms, molecules and groups of molecules and their subsequent disposal. Thus a complete inactivation of microorganisms is achieved, as well as at air ionization by pulses of high voltage - higher saturation of air with negative air ions. |
