<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device to reduce the rate of occurrence of blood stream infection in a patient to whom the medical device is attached. <P>SOLUTION: The medical device includes a body and a septum 22 placed within the body and having a slit and a surface additionally, and layers 40, 42, and 44 including an antimicrobial agent on or the surface.
