A method of delimiting a section of railway track to enable operating restrictions to be performed at the section comprises the steps of: providing a plurality of wireless communications RFID identification tags at intervals along the railway track, for instance on catenary masts; providing a portable, wireless terminal comprising wireless tag communication means; and delimiting a section boundary by enabling communication between the portable terminal and a wireless communication tag, the position of said tag denoting the section boundary. The method allows remote monitoring, and gives safety to railway workers by allowing appropriate possession of the track section. Appropriate instructions may be sent to a train. |
