<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel device capable of preventing detection accuracy of a touch position from being reduced due to an influence of the noise emitted from the plasma display panel. <P>SOLUTION: A touch panel device includes a panel main body 5 which is provided in a grid state with a plurality of transmission electrodes 7 disposed parallel to each other and a plurality of reception electrodes 8 disposed parallel to each other, and which is disposed in front of a plasma display panel 2; a transmission section 9 that sequentially selects the transmission electrodes to apply a drive signal; a receiving section 10 that sequentially selects the reception electrodes, receives a response signal output from the reception electrodes responding to the drive signal, and outputs detection data of each electrode intersection; and a control section 11 that obtains a touch position based on the detection data of each electrode intersection output from the receiving section.
