<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor for an organic thin film transistor having air stability, good solubility, and high mobility. <P>SOLUTION: A thiaxanthenothiaxanthene compound with a specific structure is used as an active layer. The thiaxanthenothiaxanthene compound is predominantly crystalline or liquid crystalline. The compound is designed to ensure air stability, good solubility, and high mobility. An organic thin film transistor generally comprises, on a substrate 20, a gate electrode 30, a source electrode 50, a drain electrode 60, an electrically insulating gate dielectric layer 40 which separates the gate electrode from the source and drain electrodes, and a semiconducting layer 70 which is in contact with the gate dielectric layer and bridges the source and drain electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
