A fire prevention control method of a washing machine is provided to prevent a steam heater or a washing heater from being overheated even in wrong operation of a fuse, to prevent a fire accident caused by latent heat in steam or washing water, and to prevent surrounding components from being damaged due to the fire. A fire prevention control method of a washing machine comprises five steps. The first step is for detecting inner temperature of a steam generator supplying steam to a tub and judging overheated condition of a steam heater(S3,S4). The second step is for judging overheated condition of the steam heater if detected temperature is over a set temperature to cut electric power to the steam heater(S6). The third step is for warning the overheated condition of the steam heater(S7). The fourth step is for opening a water supply valve to add washing water into the steam generator(S8). The fifth step is for closing the water supply valve if the overheated condition of the steam heater is solved by adding washing water, and cutting electric power to the whole washing machine(S11,S12).
