The unit has two support and/or conveyer surfaces movable with vertical moving components in an opposite direction. The support and/or conveyer surfaces are coupled with conveyor elements in different vertical levels for horizontal or inclined conveying of cargo. The conveyor elements execute conveyor movements in one, two or multiple different conveyor directions in the respective vertical levels. One of the support and/or conveyer surfaces is rotatable around a vertical or inclined axis. Straight sections of the conveyor elements form discontinuous and/or parts of the straight sections. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a material flow system comprising a conveyor unit (2) a method for handling and/or conveying cargo using a conveyor unit.
