IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD OF IMAGE READER AND IMAGE READER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method which suppresses the generation of a striped light and dark pattern and generates an image balanced in brightness and color.

SOLUTION: An image reader 10 to arrange parts of imaging areas of a plurality of image sensors 13 overlapped in their longer direction and read an image of a document 20 includes: processing A to perform black/white correction on image data output from each of the sensors 13; processing B to correct deviation in sub-scanning direction on each of the image data for which black/white correction has been performed; processing D to correct brightness of the image for each of the image data for which deviation correction has been performed by multiplying every pixel value of the image data with gain corresponding to each of the sensors 13 so that the average values of the pixel values for overlapped regions become equal; and processing C to regenerate an image by combining each image data for which brightness correction has been performed. The product of correction gain for each image data of the compound image in main scanning direction is normalized to be 1.0.
