<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous coating material capable of forming a coating film having excellent weatherability and water resistance and also having blocking resistance and satisfactory coating film elongation. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for producing a polymer for such an aqueous coating material obtained by emulsion polymerization of a radically polymerizable monomer or mixture (a) in an aqueous dispersion containing a polyorganosiloxane polymer and further emulsion polymerization of a radically polymerizable monomer or mixture (b), the radically polymerizable monomer or mixture (a) includes ≥30 mass% of a radically polymerizable monomer (c) having an SP value of ≥20 (J/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>)<SP POS="POST">1/2</SP>, a polymer obtained by polymerizing the monomer or mixture (a) has a glass transition temperature determined from the Fox equation of -15 to 15°C, and a polymer obtained by polymerizing the monomer or mixture (a) has a glass transition temperature determined from the Fox equation of 75-125°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
