PURPOSE: A 3D video display apparatus and operation method thereof are provided to eliminate cross torque in a video by selectively opening and closing shutter glasses. CONSTITUTION: A display panel is scanned by a frame frequency. A video signal input unit inputs a video signal into the display panel. A backlight unit examines the display panel using light. A shutter control unit selectively opens and closes the right shutter and left shutter of shutter glasses. The back light unit is turned on in a first half frame section and a second half frame section.
