<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for an elevator capable of improving nonuniformity of the light, by arranging inverter luminaires in close vicinity to a fluorescent lamp. <P>SOLUTION: This lighting system for the elevator is formed by arranging a plurality of inverter luminaires (7) and a plurality of fluorescent lamps (8) turned on by the plurality of inverter luminaires (7) in a canopy part (2) covered with an illumination plate (3), and includes a plate-like reflecting plate (5) arranged in a four-periphery part of the canopy part (2) covered with the illumination plate (3) and a chevron reflecting plate (6) arranged between the plurality of fluorescent lamps (8). The plate-like reflecting plate (5) and the chevron reflecting plate (6) have the effect of cutting off heat generated from the plurality of fluorescent lamps (8) and the effect of reflecting the light generated from the plurality of fluorescent lamps (8).
